Star Chapter Program
The Star Chapter Program recognizes chapters that demonstrate excellence in leadership, community service, and professional development throughout the year. Chapters that meet the program’s benchmarks earn statewide recognition at the [State] BPA conference.

Awards Presented: SLC 2027 Opening Session
Chapter advisors submit the Star Chapter application through the state office, documenting activities across each program category. Applications are reviewed by the state leadership team.

Star Chapter Activities
Each award level is built around a set of chapter activities spanning leadership development, community service, and professional growth. Contact your state office for the full activity list and scoring guide.
Leadership activities build the skills members carry into their careers. Chapters earn credit for the activities below, and each one needs a short record of what was done and who took part.
- Elect a chapter officer team and hold regular, minuted officer meetings.
- Send members to the Fall Leadership Conference or a regional leadership event.
- Run a chapter workshop on a professional skill such as interviewing, resume writing or public speaking.
- Have a member serve on a regional or state committee.
Service is a core part of BPA membership. Activities in this category should benefit people outside the chapter, and each one needs dates, hours and the number of members who took part.
- Complete a chapter service project that addresses a need in your school or community.
- Take part in a statewide BPA service campaign.
- Partner with a local organisation on a drive, fundraiser or volunteer day.
- Record member service hours and submit them with your Star Chapter application.
